The most common question I get before someone books an inspection is "how much is this going to cost?" Fair question. Wildlife removal pricing varies more than almost any other home service β a $200 squirrel trap job and a $1,500 bat exclusion can both be called "wildlife removal." Here's how the numbers actually work.
Price Ranges by Animal (Central Texas, 2026)
These are real-world ranges for jobs in the Georgetown / Williamson County area. The lower end is a simple trap-and-remove with no structural repair. The upper end includes full exclusion sealing and minor attic cleanup.
| Animal | Typical Range | What Drives the High End |
|---|---|---|
| Raccoon | $300 β $900 | Family with pups, multiple entry points, attic cleanup |
| Squirrel | $200 β $650 | Multiple access points, chewed wiring, repeat entry |
| Bat Colony | $500 β $1,800 | Colony size, exclusion season timing, guano cleanup |
| Opossum | $150 β $450 | Under-structure access, mother with young |
| Snake | $150 β $350 | Venomous species, hard-to-access location |
| Skunk | $200 β $550 | Under-deck or under-structure work, odor treatment |
| Birds (nesting) | $200 β $600 | Active nest timing, vent sealing, droppings cleanup |
| Rodents (rats/mice) | $250 β $700 | Full-perimeter exclusion sealing, multiple bait stations |
| Dead Animal Removal | $150 β $500 | Location in wall vs. attic, access difficulty, odor treatment |

The 5 Factors That Move the Price
1. How Long the Animal Has Been There
A fresh raccoon that got in last week and hasn't bred costs far less to handle than an established colony that's been in an attic for months. More time means more entry points widened, more insulation soiled, and potentially a litter of young that need to be hand-removed.
2. Number of Entry Points That Need Sealing
Trapping an animal is the easy part. Sealing the home so nothing comes back is where the work β and cost β lives. A simple home with one obvious gap costs less to seal than a two-story with multiple roof penetrations, a damaged ridge cap, and unsealed soffit returns. Most jobs include exclusion sealing in the quote.
3. Species-Specific Rules (Especially Bats)
Texas law prohibits bat exclusion during the maternity season (June 1 β July 31). If you discover bats outside that window, we can seal immediately. If you find them in June, we document the colony, seal all secondary gaps, and schedule exclusion for August. This timing affects cost because it sometimes requires two visits.
4. Attic Damage and Cleanup
Raccoon latrine cleanup, soiled insulation replacement, and decontamination are separate line items from the removal itself. Not every job needs it, but when it does, it's the biggest cost driver. A thorough inspection will tell you whether cleanup is necessary before you commit to anything.
5. Structural Repairs vs. Standard Exclusion
If animals have chewed through wood fascia, torn off a soffit panel, or damaged a roof vent, that structural repair is priced separately from exclusion. Basic exclusion uses hardware cloth, metal flashing, and sealant to close gaps β no carpentry required. Structural repairs involve wood replacement and are quoted per job.
Does Homeowner's Insurance Cover Wildlife Removal?
This is a common question, and the honest answer is: sometimes, partially. Most standard homeowner's policies cover structural damage caused by wildlife (e.g., chewed wiring, a torn soffit) but do not cover the removal itself or attic cleanup. Some policies specifically exclude pest and wildlife damage.
What to do: call your insurance agent before scheduling work and ask specifically whether "sudden and accidental" wildlife damage is covered under your policy. If yes, get documentation from us describing the damage during the inspection. We can provide that at no charge.
Why You Shouldn't Choose on Price Alone
The lowest quote often skips the exclusion sealing β which means you'll be calling someone again in six months. A proper wildlife removal job has two parts: getting the animal out, and making sure it can't come back. If a quote doesn't include exclusion and a warranty, ask why.
At Critter Wrangler, every exclusion job includes a 15-month warranty. If an animal re-enters through a point we sealed, we come back at no charge. That's not because we're generous β it's because we know the exclusion was done right and we're confident in standing behind it.

When you get a quote from any wildlife removal company, it should clearly list:
- Species identified (or suspected)
- Number and location of entry points to be sealed
- Trapping period (how long, how many traps)
- Whether exclusion sealing is included or an add-on
- Warranty terms β and what they do and don't cover
- Any cleanup/decontamination included or excluded
If a company gives you a phone quote without ever seeing the home, be cautious. Entry point count, structural access, and species can only be assessed with eyes on the property.
